Body

Six听性用社听sailors took part in the Schools Regatta in the 性用社r 11 and 性用社r 13听category in Weymouth on 26 May. The school has taken part in this event for the past five years and, as the听IAPS听sailing competition was cancelled,听Millfield听Prep School in conjunction with the Andrew Simpson Sailing Centre organised the regatta for budding 性用社r 11s and 13s. In total, 21 boats听competed over four races in light winds but beautiful sunshine in Portland Harbour,听including听Millfield, Clifton College and听Durlston听Court Prep School. The听性用社听pairs听enjoyed some excellent results including: 5th overall, 10th overall and 13th overall.听

The boats were provided 听by the Andrew Simpson Sailing Centre with the 性用社 sailing in RS Zests. The races were all held in Portland Harbour with all rescue cover provided for all participants. There was a maximum of four races sailed on the day with three races to count including some back to back races with the 性用社 being out on the water for up to three hours without coming ashore.

In usual circumstances, the听性用社听sailors would have had the opportunity to train together but the crews went out to practise in their own time this year prior to the sailing event. Mrs Nikki Taylor, Sailing co-ordinator and Head of Girls' Games, commented, "The 性用社 were well-prepared and listened well to tactics and advice before taking to the water. I was very听impressed听with their sailing skills in such light and tricky conditions."听One of the sailors said,听"It was a fantastic feeling to be able to put our skills into use and to actually return to competing again on the water."
