Our Fifth Form performed Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat over two nights - a musical about the trials and triumphs of Joseph, Jacob's favourite son. The brightly coloured costumes, confetti cannons, a very impressive camel and a vibrant neon set inspired by the artist听Friedensreich Hundertwasser and painted by the 性用社 and staff all added to the talent and boundless energy of the real stars of the show, our Fifth Form year group. The 性用社 impressed on stage with a plethora of catchy songs and complex choreography, alongside many memorable injections of听humour as well as touching, more poignant moments.

You and your听dreamcoat, ahead of your time!鈥 One of the most enduring shows of all time and originally designed to be produced in schools,听Joseph and the Amazing听Technicolor听Dreamcoat听is a reimagining of the Biblical story of Joseph, his father Jacob, eleven brothers and the coat of many colours.
Told entirely through song with the help of the narrators, the musical follows preferred son Joseph. After being sold into slavery by his brothers, he ingratiates himself with Egyptian noble听Potiphar, but ends up in jail after refusing the amorous advances of听Potiphar鈥檚听wife. While imprisoned, Joseph discovers his ability to interpret dreams, and he soon finds himself in front of the mighty but troubled, Elvis-inspired, Pharaoh. Joseph鈥檚 solution to Egypt鈥檚 famine elevates him to Pharaoh鈥檚 right-hand man and reunites him with his family.
The magical musical is full of catchy songs in a variety of styles, from a parody of French ballads (鈥淭hose Canaan Days鈥), to country-western (鈥淥ne More Angel in Heaven鈥) and calypso (鈥淏enjamin Calypso鈥), along with the unforgettable classics 鈥淎ny Dream Will Do鈥 and 鈥淐lose Every Door.鈥澨
